SAMPLES ARE IN… WORD IS OUT! 11/1/08

Posted: under Read My Thoughts.

I don’t know which I’m more excited about…  the upcoming presidential election or the launch of Van Linsey’s sophomore season.  Okay, I guess the candidates win that contest, but I’m still thrilled about showing off my new designs!

This spring, pregnant ladies will finally have something to wear on the golf course!  Hooray!  (And about time!)  Midway through sample production for Collection ‘09 I found out I was prego for the third time.  Recalling my wardrobe frustrations during golf seasons of pregnancies past, I decided to detour and design a few maternity pieces.  The styles are basic, stretchy, easy, and hip.  Here’s the story of its (ahem) conception…

I dragged out my clubs in May when I was 2 months along and not showing yet.  I wore VL maternity tops and pants from the get-go.  They looked great even when my stomach was still flat.  As my belly grew, the jersey stretched along with me and looked super cute.  So I guess rather than calling them maternity clothes you can call them “transitional” clothes.

You can see in the picture below that both the model and I are wearing the same top - literally, she took off the sample and I threw it on, then my fab photog Becca Bousquet “photoshopped” us together.  The stripey boatneck top is rayon jersey - black and jade with little silver slivers.  This top also comes with berry and black stripes.  I love this top.  It makes me happy.  :-)

I (the preggy on the right) am wearing the transitional jersey golf capris.  They have a wide fold down waist band so you can wear them high or low, and they are super comfy.

Seriously, anyone can wear these transitional jersey pieces.  So even if you’re not pregnant, try it!

The other addition for spring is a maternity cut of the Warmest Fleece.  This is a must-have for a chilly day on the course…  or any day.  The weather is getting chilly here in Boston and I’ve been LOVING my coral fleece.  I’ve been wearing it almost every day.  My husband Michael calls it my “slimming outfit”.  (Har har.)  It looks like this (but bigger :-) ).

Call me if you want to place an order.  Fleeces are available now.  The rest of the collection will be ready to ship in March.  I’ve already started a waiting list so please let me know if you’d like to sign on early.  781.369.4144 or vanessa@vanlinsey.com.

And don’t forget to vote on Tuesday!

Smiles,

Vanessa

skirt! MAY 8, 2008: 24/7 WITH VANESSA GOBES

Meet Vanessa Linsey Gobes

Owner/Designer Van Linsey Golf & Resort Apparel for Women & Children, Winchester

My family:  kicks ass.

My favorite possession: is an 18th century China wooden Buddah named Quan Yin that my husband and I found on our honeymoon in Australia. She’s very peaceful.

I’m thinking about: my ticking clock. Wishing life had a pause button.

I am most proud of: having natural childbirths with my amazing daughters. Wish more women would try it.

One thing I never want to do again: Drive to Florida and back with a 3-year old and a UHaul trailer.

If I could be totally wild, I would:  Been there.  No regrets.

Favorite web site:  vanlinsey.com, of course!

Last major purchase:  an old stone barn near Lake Sunapee, NH.

If I had a vanity plate on my car, it would say:  LUV MY MINIVAN   (Gasp!)

If I could do it all over again:  I would be an OBGYN.

My favorite body part:  My boobs, but only when I’m pregnant.

The most important thing I ever lost:  My great-grandfather was an Inventor and craftsman and he made me and my sisters each a necklace with a tiger’s eye stone that he had worked into a beautiful gold setting.  I lost it at the bus stop in 1983… corner of Cross and Forest if anyone found It.  :-)

I wish I’d known: that stirrup pants were really weird looking and did nothing for my bum.

Something most people don’t know about me:  My family is descended from French royalty.

My mother always said:  I would have been a great television news reporter.

The worst idea I’ve ever had:  Sun-tanning at noon in the Panama Canal sans sunscreen.

What are you most vain about?  In my early 20’s I was vain about my looks.  I’m glad I appreciated what I had!
